Embrace failure by redefining it (6 of 30)
What’s your attitude toward’s failure? Is it moving you forward or holding you back?
If you want to grow into the next best version of yourself, you’ll want to learn how to embrace failure.
How? By REDEFINING what failure means to you.
YOU get to decide what you are going to think and thus how you will feel when you don’t meet your expectations.
You can choose to beat yourself up or you can choose to think failure is an opportunity for LEARNING.
Thomas Edison famously said “I have not failed ten thousand times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those ten thousand ways will not work.”
You can collect failures like badges of honor. 😁
I’m not suggesting you run around making reckless decisions. But try your best and see what you learn along the way.
It is a skill we develop. Don’t fail ahead of time by thinking “I don’t know how” and not trying. Instead, use the following phrases to get some momentum and get started:
“I’m learning to…”
“I’m figuring it out…”
“I’m going to find out how to …”
Double your rate of failure and success will follow. It may not be in the form of your initial goal, but it will at least include new knowledge, wisdom, and understanding gained along the journey.
