Planning Ahead Saves Time
Want to save time this week so you can breathe a little lighter and get more done?
Try setting your goals and planning your week in advance. Yes, it takes energy upfront but done well it can save you countless hours in the long run.
Spend 30-60 minutes Sunday evening or Monday morning thinking about your goals for the week and the results you want to create. Prioritize them in order of what’s most important to you, decide how long you want to give yourself to complete each task and find time for each of them on your calendar.
Make sure your self-care and fun personal time get scheduled first, as you’ll be most driven and successful if you’re operating on a full tank and have something to look forward to as well.
Then ask yourself on a scale of 1-10 “how likely am I follow through on these tasks?” If an item isn’t an 8 or higher, question why and troubleshoot it. Have you overcommitted? Does it need to be broken into smaller chunks? Is it in alignment with your top time priorities and values?
Be honest with yourself and create a schedule that reflects your personality and interests, not someone else’s. A schedule only works if you craft it to fit your unique way of operating. Sometimes it takes experimenting to find the right fit.
Remember, you are IMPORTANT and your goals matter. Show up for yourself just like you would for an appointment with Oprah! Set a track record of honoring your commitments to yourself.
