Nature Nurtures Your Soul (Day 13 of 30)

One of the best ways I’ve found to maintain my sanity as an urban dweller over the last 14 years living in NYC is to get out in nature as much as a I can. I try to plan at least four hikes a season with family and friends, and build in vacations that are nature-oriented.

Nature heals the beating that my urban soul takes on a weekly basis with its remedies of solitude, fresh air and sunshine.

Preemptively engage in self-care (3 of 30)

How many of you practice this daily? Be honest!

Most of us only grab the oxygen mask in an emergency.

But if we really want to serve ourselves, our loved ones and our communities with greater impact we have to learn to preemptively engage in self-care.

I thought I was fairly good at this. I’d regularly set aside time for yoga, hiking, girlfriends, solo travel, quiet time, etc. But I realized it was just enough to SURVIVE, not necessarily THRIVE.

Big takeaway … Don’t wait until your body is screaming at you to take action, practice radical self-care BEFORE you crash and burn. 😁

Bring awareness to your thoughts (1 of 30)

Have you noticed our brains are creatures of habit, thinking the same thoughts over and over again?

How often do we question if our thoughts are true, or if they are serving us?

It matters because our thoughts create our feelings, which fuel our actions, which lead to our results. Thus, there is a direct link between our thoughts and results in life!

It serves us to pay attention to our thoughts. Where is our energy flowing? Is this where we want to go?

I spent the last year really watching my brain and the thoughts it created…uncovering those pesky unconscious thoughts took extra effort too.
